ONE CHILD
This website is a collection of data sculptures around Chinese One Child Policy. The policy was established in 1979 by Xiaoping Deng, who was the leader of China at the time. It was designed to make sure the population growth didn’t over-pace the economic development of China. This policy ended on January 2016. Up until now, the policy prevented 400 million births. Through these data sculptures, I hope I can show a glimpse of how this policy deeply influences and shapes not only Chinese society as a whole, but also me as a single child born in 1996.
